Uber Carshare
With a mission to free people and the planet from the 1-person, 1-car mentality, Uber Carshare is a peer-to-peer car sharing platform that puts under-utilised cars to better use. Uber is committed to reimagining the way the world moves, and sought to tackle the opportunities of a car-light future. Australia is amongst the top 5 countries with the highest rates of private car ownership per capita and 50% of households in Australia have two or more cars.
Roles and responsibilities
I joined Uber Carshare following the acquisition of Car Next Door.
My role was to help make the borrower trip experience so easy and reliable that the average household gives up their second car.
I worked closely with UX researchers, content designers, product managers, engineers and data analysts to drive key improvements on the web and mobile app, and launch in Boston and Toronto.
Creating a magical first time borrower experience
Borrowing a car for the first time can be daunting. New borrowers face several challenges: understanding the pickup process, locating the vehicle, unlocking it, and ensuring they've done everything to protect themselves from liability. Based on discovery research led by the UX research team, the lack of clarity around the pickup process stands out as one of the main obstacles to a smooth experience for first-time users.
Our team aimed to boost confidence among first-time borrowers by clearly communicating what to expect at the start of their trip. This served as the foundation for creating a magical first-time experience.
